Friday Drop — The RPG Renaissance.

This week at the lockup, we took in a massive haul of pristine PS1 role-playing games and spent three days reviving the hardware that plays them. Here’s a look at what hit the bench.

The Software Haul · Mint Condition Imports

A stack of classic PlayStation 1 game jewel cases on a dark wooden workbench.

Pristine jewel cases. No cracked plastic, complete manuals, untouched discs.

Finding PS1 games in 2026 isn't hard. Finding them in this condition is. We acquired a single-owner collection this week featuring heavy hitters like Suikoden II, Final Fantasy Tactics, and Valkyrie Profile. The previous owner kept them out of direct sunlight, meaning the spine art hasn't faded a single shade.

Every single disc went through our VMI buffer to remove micro-scratches before being light-tested. They are flawless. When you see these drop on Friday, know that you are looking at museum-grade preservation.

The Hardware Reality · Recapping the Classics

Motherboard surgery. Replacing leaking capacitors to save a dying console.

You can't play pristine software on failing hardware. A common issue with early optical consoles is the capacitor plague. The electrolytic fluid dries out or leaks, eating through the copper traces on the motherboard and causing audio distortion or total disc-read failure.

Marcus spent most of Wednesday under the microscope, performing surgery on three different motherboards. We replaced the entire cap bank with modern, high-temperature Japanese equivalents. After a thorough isopropyl alcohol bath and a reflow of the laser assembly pins, they passed our 24-hour burn-in test with flying colors.

We don't just sell nostalgia; we engineer reliability. These rigs are built to outlast their original lifespan.
